Robert Olen Butthead

This is not a blog set up for gossip.

But, it has been brought to my attention that FSU English dept. prof and Pulitzer winner Robert Olen Butler, or as Padgett, mock-rivalry-hungry as he was, used to call him, Robert Olen Butthead, has recently been dumped.

He was dumped by his wife, another writer and FSU prof, Elizabeth Dewberry. Not just dumped, but dumped for Ted Turner.

Being that they're writers, it's a pretty twisted little narrative. Here's the story on Page Six of the Post. If you seek it out, you can read the whole e-mail he sent, but that feels a little intrusive.

And I'm going to go ahead and weigh in on this. Poor R.O.B. He always seemed like a nice enough guy to me.

Update: Throughout the course of the day, this story picked up steam and by the evening, the e-mail was featured as the "Hot Document" on Slate. So you can read it, if you're into that sort of thing.

whoa. d-r-a-m-a.

ted turner? really? I guess he did almost single-handedly save the American Buffalo from extinction, so he get some good guy points, but it still seems weird.
